EG not starting
We adjusted the valves on a friends EG last night. We put everything back together and the car wouldnt start. It would turn over, but wont start. We ended up changing the plugs, wires, rotor and distributor cover (it was cracked) but still nothing. We even double checked the valve spacing and everything was fine. It will turn over but wont start and you can smell some gas. We did not unplug anything electrical and we cannot figure out whats going on. We checked for spark and the motor is not gettin spark at all..any suggestions?

Re check your connections.

the only way we know how to check the coil is to replace it but at 8 pm last night we were kinda limited. anyone know how to check the coil with out having to replace it first? someone also said something about a AUG (?) fuse..not sure on that one yet or as to what it even is
Pull off the distributor cap and the leak cover to expose the igniter and the coil. Also, it may make things easier to pull the rotor off as well. Remove the screws and take the two wires that are connected to the coil off. Grab an ohmmeter and check the resistance between the terminals. Post it up - and I'll check a service manual for the proper specification.

And while you have the wires off connect a test light between them (if you have one) and see if it flashes when you crank the engine.

make sure you have all the engine grounds on the engine. Check that the dizzy has power just by using a test light to the connector to the main harness. If it does and you dont have spark just replace it. Or get a new ignitor and replace it and try again. but if it doesnt have power you are in a new world of problems. Check your fuses and all the engine grounds... dont forget about the ground on the water jacket where the thermostat is. good luck
