Default 2.75" intercooler with 2.5" piping?

ok im going to run a 2" pipe from the turbo to the ic and then flare it at the ic to 2.75" (if possible). and then im going to run a 2.25" pipe from the ic to throttle body and then flare it to 2.75" at the ic and then flare it to 2.5" at the throttle body. is this a good idea?

IMO if you are just running a moderate setup this is what you should do:

2" piping between compressor outlet to IC inlet
2" IC inlet
2.25" IC outlet (or 2.5" if you think you might be going with a bigger setup in the future)
2.25" piping on the IC outlet side (or 2.5" to match a 2.5" IC outlet)

Now the part about the flare, I think you should just get a transition hose and the correct size T bolt clamp. If you take it to a really good welding shop you can have them weld in a transition pipe, just dont take it to some back alley welding shop. I have a 2.25" IC pipe and a 2.75" TB. My transition hose fits snugly around the pipe, and I'm actually more concerned with the seal on the TB. But I used some T bolt clamps and tightened them down good, so there shouldn't be any leaks.

yeah they make silicone couplers that go from 2.5-3 and such so u can step it up to fit the ic on one side and the pipe on the other ..thats what my buddies just did on his setup , basicallly what the last guy told u

what about 2.25 piping all around and 500-550 hp? would that not be such a good idea?

Because it will be more expensive then just buying a transition hose.

A conical aluminum transition pipe costs around $28 from burnsstainless.com. Then a 2.75" section of aluminum pipe to butt up to your TB will cost about $12. Then you figure $30-$75 to have someone TIG weld it together.
