Is An SiR and Type R the Same Thing?
I am about to do a B16a swap on my 91 CRX Si. I am not very familiar with all the terms being flung around on cars but I am asking if an SiR motor and Type-R motor is the same thing? I am purchasing a 88-91 Integra B16 SiR motor from Hmotors this week so I am just curious if Type R is just another name for SiR.
If they are different motors, can someone explain the difference?
Thanks,
Shaunie

eh...a civic type r isnt a 1.8. an integra type r is a 1.8. an sir just means:
1. it was the high trim level vtec dual cam car from 88-91/92-95
type r means:
1. it was the high trim level vetec dual cam car from 96-00/01-05 and has a ported head, different cams differnet pistons, any many other differences from the standard b series cars/k series cars of those generations.
hope that helps

so are you saying my stocked SiR cant beat a Type R civic?

ok this threads kind of retarded.
the out of the box racing thing is true from hondas perspective, however the "stomp on everyone" thing is more of a matter of opinion.
it was integra "xsi".
88-91 crx and civic std were sir. im not 110% sure about the civic std tho. but i know the ef8 crx came in an sir trim level.

No, What I was saying is that a Stock TypeR against a REAL Civic siR, The typeR will stomp it around a course.
And yes TypeR's will Stomp many cars around a race course given the right driver.
I guess none of you download videos...especially of TypeR's racing other very high end cars in Japan on courses...almost every time the TypeR will come out ahead with a very big lead over cars with almost twice the HP.
Honda did the TypeR's right in terms of overall drivability but with Superior handling, that cant be matched by many stock cars of Today.
