Default d16y8 rex

I have been trying to find some reviews of this install/motor. 168hp seems like a good potential out of the JDM d16y8. I really would like to keep the sohc motor in my car. Has anyone here done this swap and is there a step by step install guide i have found tons for b16's just wondering about the d16y8 wiring mounts part list etc. Thanks guys.

I THINK your going to have to use cutom mounts, check out hasport.com. they might have what you are looking for.

D16Y8 are rated at about 127 hp.

They will not bolt into a first gen CRX or third gen Civic. I'd hate to have to do the wiring for them too, that would suck.

Just do the B16A. It's 160 hp, and there are kits out there that allow you to bolt it in.

I see thank you for the information. I just didn't want to follow in others foot steps i thought a boosted SOHC that made 250hp boost would be a cool second race car.

I recently set up a business account for the performance shop i work at with a jdm importer. He said he gets CRX rhd clips cheap. What motor did the 1g's JDM's come with d15B (SOHC 1.5 Vtec?)

And could i do a RHD b16a?

Yea.... except the fan switch is different and the driver side mount on the Y7 is different.

You need to look up a bit more info before you dive into a project of this calibur. I think you need to get the facts straight on the motors before you go out and try to toss it in. As far as engine choice Anything can be done with enough skill. But as far as ease... I believe there is a D16A1 from an 88ish integra which would be an easy bolt in for a Fuel Injected 87 Si. Carbed 1st gens need not apply (pain in the *** those carbed )

My friend has a D16Y8 in his 90 crx SI, and I guess it just bolted in, just had to use the SI tranny.

Yep... Just saying the drive mount is different. It bolts up the same but the actually mount on the Y7 for sure is differently orientated. Also the fan thermo switch is on the back of the block on the A6... next to the oil pressure sensor and on the Y7/Y8 it is on the thermostat housing.

I know the 1g's were differnt and thats why i am asking questions. By RHD i mean right hand drive installing a full front clip from a jdm crx. Honestly i am new to the honda scene and not only are there like 4 seriers then theres a crap load of numbers after each. As for the ability to swap to rhd i have already been threw a AWD conversion on a mitsu spyder which never had an awd option the ability is there just need to learn like the rest of us.

The more i read i more i like the b16 obd0 vtec motor for my 87 crx si
