Converting my type r to obd 1, which chip for p28 is the best?
I am converting my type r motor into obd 1, I have a p28 ecu laying around. Decided to chip it.
My motor is a stock Jdm 97 motor, only an intake, jdm 4-1 header thats it.(no plans yet on the motor but want to keep it close to stock) I just want to convert it to obd1. Will upgrade to hondata or etc later just for now. What do you recommed. Thanks.

Hondata S100 + Tune is the best bang for its buck. You also get the assurance of a good a/f and how much power you came in with and how much you left with.
Buying one of those random 'chips' on the market is like the lottery, the odds are against you.
I wouldn't trust those chips either, you have no idea how the maps are designed. It may end up hurting your motor more than helping.

Nope. But you will need an adapter harness for the obd1 ecu.

i bought a kenji chip and ran it untuned. whether it is related or not, two of my smsp cats have been shot since using that chip. i ran the chip no longer then 3 weeks and the matting on my cat failed, and now i ahve a rattling catalyst.

Agreed. The best bang for the buck would be to have someone that is familiar with Uberdata or Crome tune your car, but for your stock car, I almost wouldn't even bother, and just save for more parts like cams, and then have the car tuned.

Thanks guys, will save up for hondata. I was thinking that, I rather pay more then to get cheap chip and hurt my motor.
Find someone in your area who tunes Crome, you will save yourself a good chunk of change and you will have just as good of a tune. Remember, it all comes down to the tuner.
Uberdata/Crome is free and equal to Hondata in terms of tuning potential. The only problem with the software is finding someone familiar with them.
