Broken tranny from pothole
hey everyone... had a very bad day. I was driving (1993 Prelude Si Auto Tranny)and there was road construction and they had those huge metal plate covers over the road. I drove over it and since my car is lowered, the metal plate covers hit my transmission and all the fluid started to come out. I then got my car towed to a shop and they raised it and saw that there was a hole where the bolt holds the two parts of the tranny together with a gasket in the middle. Can someone give me some direction of what I can do? Does anyone know if they sell the cover only? Or do I have to get a whole new tranny just because of that hole? I really dont know what to do right now. Thanks for the help.

I agree. Did you happen to take pictures?

i was checking online and there is a housing for about ~$350. Does anyone know if this includes both sides of the transmission? I will try to take pictures tomorrow when I go to the shop but there are bolts holding 2 parts of the transmission housing together. Does it include both sides? Thank you all for the help.
It should include both sides.
The transmission cases are machined in factory with both sides bolted together - the bearing seats for all rotating parts must be "in line" on both sides. It means if you damaged one side only, you should change both sides.
I hope you will know what I am meaning... sorry for my poor english.

Raise your vehicle to stock height (if you have coilovers, that'd be nice). Take a grip of photos of your car, tranny, and where it all took place and complain. RISE UP.....worth a try to get your money back. They have arguments they can you use, but so do you

well, what are my chances of getting any money back. It seems kinda hard to take on the city anyways. The thing is that practically every car goes over that bump fine except lowered cars... anyways, is there anyway to check if the housing comes in both sides because of my luck, the damage is right in the middle of both sides and I cant just change one side.

can someone give me a rundown on how to remove the tranny? I have a haynes from autozone but has anyone encountered any special problems that I should know of? I actually picked up a used tranny today... costs me $650 total due to the shipping, etc... sigh...
