Just recently ive experienced this rattling noise coming from the engine bay. it seems like i only hear this rattling noise when i don't give the car enough gas when releasing the clutch, and especially when the car is going uphill. ill try to find out other information, but for now could anybody plaese help me out and lead me to identify whats loose or what the problem is? thanks so much in advance.

no idea, sort of like a rattle. but it usually rattles when im starting in 1st gear up a hill. any ideas anyone?

 

Weird - I have pretty much the same problem - only uphill and rattles immediatey when I begin to accelerate. Found my problem - it was the muffler - even on revving it in neutral will make the noise as well. So check that out.

 

A cat that's going bad can make some really horrible rattling noises when it's under load.

 

check under your car for anything loose such as a heatshield ....

- that was the issue with me and my Brullen high flow cat. They changed the design, the honeycombs are welded in place had the old model replace with the new.... and presto, no rattle.

 

theres no sound when i rev in neutral. only when in gear. and its possible it could be the cat, but its weird how it only usually rattles when accelerating uphill.

 

you said it dont rattel in nutrel but in gear ok cant be the cat cuz if it was it would do it in nutrel too / check tranny and mounts and tell me im at aim:xxasiancwalkerxx

 

it also seems to rattle when the engine is cold and i push the gas all the way at low rpms.

yea i was pretty sure that it wasnt the cat to begin with. its more deeper sounding than something that would come from the cat.
