Y7 to Y8 Intake Mainifold Questions
I would like to do this mod but have a few questions after looking at what's available for sale.
Many manifolds sold are 'bare". What do I really need to do this swap? The bare manifold at least, I know, but what about the sensors, fuel rail, injectors and TB? Will they all swap out from the Y7 to the y8 mani w/o probem or are there specific things needed for the y8 not found on the y7?
After searching, I've not seen one complete DIY post on this subject explaining the step by step on how to accomplish this. Perhaps I missed it?
thanks

-manifold
-vacuum line(can buy at Autozone for like 7 cents/foot)
-JB weld(to seal holes where the y8 iacv was)
-y8 Throttle body rotor(to put on ur y7)
this is all i used to do my swap.

I performed this swap some time ago, and it still troubles me. I've learned a few things about this, but havn't nailed down all the issues and their solutions just yet.
You can read my past topic asking for assistance in the swap here:

Here are the basics in the differences. If the manifold came from a vehicle with a manual transmission, the IACV would have been mounted directly to the rear of the manifold itself. Also, the IACV has a round 2-pin connection. If the manifold came from a vehicle with an automatic transmission, the IACV would have been mounted on the throttle body itsself. Also the IACV has an oval 3-pin connection.
One other oddity that many may not know about, if the manifold came from a 1999 or 2000 vehicle, it will have a port on the very top-center edge of the manfold where it meets the head for a vacuum line. Additionally, there are four tiny holes located above each cylinder port on the face of the manifold that are also used for vacuum. There is an "air assist valve that is located in the thermostat housing (on the 99-00 vehicle) that is in the vacuum system that works with each of the ports that I mentioned above.
These ports all need to be blocked or plugged up in some fashion or you will have a leak, causing the engine to surge at idle.

Thanks, guys for all the great input.
RareSI - thanks for your input and the link... I missed that one when I did a search on this conversion. valuable stuff... mahalo

Not a problem. I just still have vacuum leak problems I am trying to work out. It's been rather annoying, but I have it calmed down for now. It's just been a royal pain in the *** to find my leaks.
