this may be a dumb question....so flame if you like i can take it....and yes I searched....
Was the Civic Type R ever available in Canada??
.....I just wasnt sure if it was, I may be in the marker for a new car....I have about 10,000 to 11,000 to spend if i decide to get something and thought hmmm....may not be enough for a Integra R...but maybe a Civic R from Canada could be imported?????
Unless that is you wanna sell me your Integra R for 10,000USD

I don't believe there were any Civic R's available in Canada, but let me tell you from experience; you can get/import an Integra R cheaper than a Civic R. Everyone has the misconception that cars are dirty cheap in Japan/other countries. The sad fact is that a clean low milage 98+ CTR will cost you $17k+ and that's before shipping/registering

EK-9's were available between 98 and 01, that means there are a lot less in production than the DC2 ITR (95-01)

We have a load of EK9 CTRs here in ireland, an early 97 can be had for around $14-15k (thats including all shipping/registration etc) later spec98s/99s make about $17-19k, some more, some less

CTRs are not quite that expesive unless its in mint condition with less than a 100mi on it and garaged.
the average cost for a CTR in good conditon is $8000 USD...This is going for around $6k

I was in Japan 2 weeks ago at the car auctions (as was penpen). You can't legally register a Civic Type R in the states for street use.

TRS in Socal had a EK9 CTR a couple years ago but I don't remember if it was street legal or not.

Every street legal car of that nature that I have seen has had shady work done to "legalize" it. Often they're registered as other cars, VINs are swapped, etc. from what I hear. I've never gotten a straight story from an owner of such a vehicle.
YMMV, but that's what I hear from my friend who does this stuff for a living. If there's a way to do it legally I'd get a CTR for a daily beater with no second thoughts.

One theory is that most of the "shady" JDM cars are registered as kit cars in which it has to enter the importing country in pieces and be then be reassembled.
since nobody really seem to pay attention to my last post, although it was kinda ot. the local guy here, got temp plates for his, but never was able to get real plates, i dont remember why.
when he bought it, he was given what was suppose to be a japanese title, but instead ended up being a shipping label. so i think he got screwed. he is still able to drive it around town, but restrictions here arent i guess as bad as cali.
he also got in a wreck, not sure of the damage but rumors floating around that he was gonna part it out.. ******* idiot. he's one of those guys who has money and buys a car they dont deserve.. ya know?
