EG side moldings

Default EG side moldings

why do some CX's have sidemoldings? can the holes be filled if i take out the moldings by a paint shop?

Forgive me if i'm wrong but I believe the reason is ...

CX's did not come from the factory with side moldings due to them being the "generic trim" Civic , but the person who bought the vehicle could get optional side moldings put in from the dealership .

The trim holes can be filled in, but painting the whole car is really the only option when you do this, in order to avoid mismatched colors on your car. I was thinking about doing that to my eg hatch, but I like the look of the moldings as well.
