how often do you have to replace the battery? ive had the same battery for 4 years that came stock when i bought the car new in 2001.

what are some common signs of the battery going out or needing a replacement? can you take it to an autozone or something for them to check and charge it or should i just buy a new one?

 

When you see the battery getting fat. usally the side is bubble up and acide coming out of the battery case

 

I guess the normal period of a battery life is 4 years...you can take it to autozone if you want to but your best bet is to get a new one.
