in-line oil cooler?

in-line oil cooler?
does anyone use an oil cooler inline with their turbo oil feed? it dosent seem like a horriable idea to me, and since im tracking my car, i figured it would be a good idea to use an oil cooler. i think this would be a pretty cheap and easy way to do it. if its a bad idea, let me know. if its not, lets hear some input on this!

The turbo uses almost no oil, maybe .5 gal/min. It is a waste to put a cooler on that feed line. Better yet get a sandwich plate and some -10AN line and use a real oil cooler.

it doesnt matter the volume of oil the turbo uses but it would be better to run cooler oil into it....oil should be hot to work so alot of smart guys use thermostat switches to turn on the fan or even direct oil into the cooler
running a huge cooler with -10 lines is not a good idea at all. Your taking away oil pressure and adding a huge load to the oil pump ...alot of oils break down after 230-250 degrees so alot of people run oil temp gauges if its geting too hot then add a cooler

Running a big oil cooler is not a good idea? Well I don't know about you but I like my oil to stay below 240*. Any proper oil cooler setup should have a thermostat anyways. As far as volume not mattering, wouldn't you want to have the cooler actually do something? I mean, coolling a half a gallon a minute just for the turbo seems like a huge waste of time. If you are going to go through the hassle and expense of a cooler, at least have it so it cools all of the oil, not the very tiny amount that the turbo uses. If you are going to do an oil cooler, do it right, otherwise don't bother.

if you dont absolutely need one no its not a good idea...oil needs to be hot to work so if its not getting over 230-240 its fine...if it is then run a cooler but loosing oil pressure in the motor is never a good thing....it may be better to get a larger aluminum oil pan with more capacity ..it will cool the oil without pressure drop
