At one time there was a problem with compatibility. It may still exist on some older engines. Generally-you can run good old Dino oil and do just fine. If you want the semi or full synthetic make sure it meets or exceeds ALL of Honda's requirements. It really depends on your wallet and how you use the car. BTW: oil change intervals according to my dealer are NOT increased by using synthetic.

i run castrol syntec full synthetic and i have no oil leaks i have 199k on the motor and i have ran that oil since 132k (when i got it) it seems to do fine. no one is gonna tell you synthetic will increase oil change intervals because if they did they would partially liable for giving you "bad advice" if something goes wrong. i personally run 4500 to 5000 miles between changes. i am considering swapping to redline engine oil it recommends 10 - 12k between changes. why would a company do that if they couldnt back it up? i believe ill try it. my motor is old anyway and it has to go at some point. im still waiting for those horribly awful insane to put on Unorthodox Racing pullies to cause a "horrible catastrophe" in my motor. after all they are a death sentence. (major sarcasm)

i talked to my mechanis that usually helps me out of sticky situations. it all comes down to changing your oil every 3,000 no matter what oil you use. he said that synthetics not worth the money, its a thinner oil and tends to burn faster. i still like castrol GTX, if you watch speed vision , youll see the castrol rally car go through hell, enough said.

I used mobil 1 on my accord when I had enough miles. I didn't notice a damn thing. 30 bucks per oil change hurts too. Still, haha, I'm going to fork it up when I have enough miles on my prelude. It's mainly peace of mind.
