225/50/16 Are they too big
Some old guy gonna sell me these tire for 20 bucks....dam that's cheap but are they too big and wide.
I'm still on stock SH wheels and going to lower it 1.5 inch with Nuespeed Sport.
Please give me some suggestions since I can't let this deal pass up.

The price is good. What kind of rubber is it and how old is it? Rubber deteriorates with age. Do your rims accomadate the tires? Those are the questions you have to resolve. That size rubber will work on a lude. It has been used often in track situations. I went to 215/40/16 from the stock 205/55/15 and the cornering improved immensely with suspension improvements.

Exactly! They are like condoms man. Do you want old condoms on your ****?
You should treat your car the same way.

to simply answer your question, yes they will fit. rim offset will come into play if you dont have stock rims. if you should use them, well that depends opn type of tire and age.
but for $20 id buy them and keep as a spare if nothing else.
btw-guys he said an old guy, not old tires

Haha yeah it's an old guy not an old tire. He said the threads are almost new.
So right now I'm not even lowered so I'm not worried about scraping, but nuespeed sport are coming soon.
I call tire.com and they said No it won't fit but so I hope you guys are right.

Yeah but you see i got the stock SH wheels so I'm not sure that it'll fit since your offset should be different like 48 or so.
I don't know if that matters thats why I'm asking. I've seen people with 225/50/16 in 16 inch slips have them.
Where all the tire gurus at.

Guys, you're giving him wrong information. 225 wide tires are NOT recommended for 6.5" wide rims (that's the SH rim width). The minimum recommended rim width is 7" (which is what you have Anthony on your Rotas). The tire will bulge out on an SH rim. The widest you can go on 6.5" rims is 215 wide.

anthonys is on a 4th gen, thats why it rubs a little, 5th gens have a little for more.

5th gen rims are 6.5" wide (both base and SH). While you can mount 225 tires on a 6.5" rim, its not recommended - you get uneven wear and bubble formation on the sidewalls. Plus you risk a higher chance of the tire getting unseated.

meh, not a big deal. people run 225/45/15 hoosiers on 6.5" wheels all the time. keep in mind hoosiers run REAL wide.
but 225/50/16 is a bad size for a car that isn't a turbo monster. kills gearing, car will feel like a civic LX. add to that the rubbing potential, and it's not worth it.

Use tire size calculator to see what tire size is best for you
Stock 5th gen
205/50/16
The closest size you could get is 225/45/16 with 0.4% speedometer reading error, nearest overal diameter. With 225/50/16 the speedometer reading error is 3.3% slower than the actual speed. Use the proper size. The theory is that while making these changes, you want to keep the overall tire diameter within 3% of the original equipment tires.

wow I thought my thread was dead back in June lol.
Anyways to clear everything up, here's my story. I still got some wack snow tires for the rear so I'm looking to replace it. This old guys selling his 225/50/16 Goodyear Eagle to me for 20 bucks, and you know the Goodyear Eagles cost a grip. If I can use it then I'll just buy another one for the rear. The front tires I'm set already so wont' be needing anything soon.
I just purchase some investments so that's why I'm short on cash and asking for help but it seems like everyone has different opinions.
As for calculating what tire is the best for me, I know that already but the question was is this 225/50/16 gonna work for the "rear" on car that's not lowered and/or lowered 1.5 inches. Thanks again.

15x6.5.......yay or nay......please no false information, wheres all the tire gurus at.</TD></TR></TABLE>
it'll "work", but it won't be ideal. i'll bet it'll rub the tab in the rear fenderwell, but it should be fine.
