sent a rod through my mofuggin built block!!!
well, my engine is done now. i was cruising at 60mph and i start hearing a clanking sound on my way home the other night. i could just smell the burning oil that was spit out of the block onto the hot turbo. i wasn't sure what it was at first, so when i popped the hood and pulled out the flash light, i shined it on the block and saw a hole that a golf ball could slip into, and one of my eagle rods poking through. i just fell to my knees and started crying right there on the side of the road.
the motor has the older style ge sleeves, eagle rods, and cp 9:1 pistons. i suppose the oil pump went out or something. i'm going to tear the motor down here pretty soon and inspect everything and take some pictures, i'll be sure to post them up for viewing pleasures. it made 377whp, and 333wtq, and it will be sorely missed.
all that is left to do now is to build it better than it was before. i plan to use benson sleeves, endyn rollerwave pistons, and manley rods on the next block. i'll have it all back together by summer's end.

the rod cap was squozen like a florida orange.

more squozeness.

damage to the bottom of the sleeve. this is the only sleeve that was damaged.

This one really shows how hot the rod got.....you can see the discoloration.

Bad Piston........Good Piston (only one rod and piston was damaged also)

This pic shows how the rod twisted

Another shot of the sleeve damage.......with its assasin snickering in the background. **** YO COUCH *****!

my new mantle piece........scarred for life.

evidence that the rod just didn't want to stay inside that damn block. maybe it was clausterphobic.

the rod cap bolts broke off........which i'm not sure is what caused the engine failure, or if the engine failure caused the breaking of the rod cap bolts. the rod cap was found in my oil pan along with tons of metal, and the rod cap is now about 5mm from being able to fit back onto the rod (it was squeezed in, i'll try to get a pic of it too.) the crank is pretty scratched up, and the girdle has some pretty good dings as well, it's debateable if i'll use the girdle again or just buy a new one. hope you guys enjoy the pics.

I'm assuming so, thats what his sig says.
Im so sorry to hear that, sounded like a great setup. Good luck on the rebuild.

yea, h22 bored to 89mm..........
next one will be 87mm, and i'll probably end up using endyn rollerwave pistons instead of the weisco pistons like i had said before.
hopefully i'll have it all back together within a month and a half. i'll try to take pics soon.

well...........rollerwaves are the best of the best, and manley are some of the strongest rods you can buy, so why go with anything different?

WhY j00 g0tt4 b3 h4t1n d4Wg?!?!?!
I figured I'd see ya posting back up here again. Sorry to see the motor toasted. I'm really interested in how the rod snapped! It was tuned by st00pid, so i'm pretty sure timing or something of that nature wasn't the cause......did it whine before dying? How was the oil level?

no whining before the car died..........it was running stupid for a while, like it would be hard to start up and sometimes it just wouldn't kick in when i got on it......
when the car was tuned, it was on a 2.25" exhaust and a 60-1 turbo--- i've been running it on that same tune with a 3" exhaust and a sc61, so i'm sure that played with the a/f ratios a little.
i actually have 2 oil pressure gauges, they're just not hooked up.
oh well......i've learned from this experience, and the next setup is going to kick the old one's ***.

yea, i realize this........i wanted to get it retuned while i was in houston, but jason was out of town, and i don't trust anyone around to tune it that is any closer to me than him, which is a good 4.5 hour drive. this next setup will be tuned to perfection.
btw.........i have some siemen deka 680cc injectors for sale if anyone needs some. i want 220 shipped for them.
