Default T3/T67 H.O. with ported shroud

Here you go. I decided to get this done while the turbo was sitting around waiting to go on. The problem was i couldent find anyone that offered this service, until i talked to O2induction.

In theory this should extend the lower end of the compressor map. So it should give me more midrange hp and torque and more peak hp.

Its designed to help smaller engine run larger compressor wheels.


HKS does it on their t04z

If the turbo doesn't surge without it, will a ported shroud help at all? It actually reduces the airflow capacity and of the wheel. Although it seems to widen the efficiency islands.

Ryan Woon from WOTM makes rings that you can insert in some anti surge turbos like the GT47's to make them a smooth inlet like a normal turbo, because apparently if the turbo doesn't surge at all they're seeing power losses from it. I think he picked up in the neighbourhood of 35 RWHP starting at 900 on his car when it had a T74 by eliminating the anti-surge and nothing else.

I did it for the simple fact that i will be running a 67mm comp. wheels on a 2.0l motor.

Holset has been using this technology for a long time. Probably a lot of information out there about how/why it works in you look into the Holset line.

The best reason- the GT30R sounds incredible with a ported shroud! I'm not sure how common surge is with the turbos that most Honda's run, but I can't hear any on my S2000.

Is there any real proof in a loss of power on hondas, if not I'd be interested in doing this also, so I am curious of how much you paid and the approxiamate turn around time.

The only negative thing i came across was someone one supraforums was saying they lost spoolup time. But he showed proof even when asked to. But if HKS and Garrett use this tech. on there turbos, i will too


The service is $200 it includes the ported shroud and polishing of the velocity stack (inside compressor inlet).

HKS and Garrett use this technology for when they're running turbos that are prone to surge. With how late boost comes on with the HO there is no compressor surge whatsoever, but having the ported shroud will make it spool later.

I'm running a T67 on a 2.0L and getting 20 PSI by 4800 RPM with no surge. There needs to be a better reason then "it sounds cool" for me to spend $200 on a compressor cover.

The only benefit I see is it LOOKS like it extended the width of the efficiency island on the compressor flow map I posted above. It's hard to tell if it lowered the peak efficiency though. Obviously some turbochargers need it to keep from surging. But the T67 doesn't seem to need it to prevent surge at all. Now if it fattened up the efficiency islands it MIGHT be worth the $200. I bet it still wouldn't make any more power while not maxing out the turbo and it would probably reduce the maximum power potential that it can make.

I thought it was the other way around. I thought that they used the ported shroud housing so you can run a smaller turbo that would normally surge in a certain area in the map, but now that its shrouded the surge limit is changed. Allowing you to run a smaller turbo with a larger motor, while still staying off of the surge limit.
