Yeah, you can mate a d16z6 or y8 to that motor. You can use the same ecu/distributor, if you want, but then you'll need to wire up a vtec actuator. Easiest way is to get the head/distributor/ecu as the samd OBD scheme. High compression motor, resembles the VTI in Japan. Around 125 hp. Also, you'll need a resister box and wire over to MPFI. Not very expensive for it all.
If you can, use the D16Y8 head (96-up Civic EX). It will give you higher compression, has a good intake manifold design, and you can use a 88-91 distributor on it as well.
