I have a 1990 crx dx. Ive got 2 questions, (1) why is there the 55mph on the speedometer on my car? i searched "55" didnt come up w/ anyhting. (2) i turned my key to the check CEL position , and the led was flashing the one like check light, then a space, then it gave me a code 16, but it wasnt what i read should happen, it was by ones, so there were 16 short flash's, is this just how my ecu works? or is somethign wierd. If it is code 16, can someone just post waht it is or i can look.

the 55 is from when the goverment had the federal 55 mph speed limit in effect, and they put taht on every car so youd know the speed limit. As for the CEL, are you sure its 16 in a row, and theres not a pause?

i kno....its wierd...its 16 constant little flashes, like no spaces, the only space is for teh like starter flash or w/e, and even that is a short beep.

 

i have that too, i like. that way i kno how much im going over the legal limit

 

um, ok... im not really on that topic anymore, now i just wanna kno if my ecu is actually giving me a code 16, or if its screwed up, so if someone could help that would b great.

 

16 short flashes is an indication that your whojamawhatzit is bad.

It <U>should not</U> do 16 short flashes. Try another ECU, check EBAY for one.

 

hahaha, um ok. its wierd, ill check it again. Maybe i can video it too..? the CEL usually goes on when i am in gear and hit the brakes, or am goin down a hill and let off the gas (while in gear) or whenever i dont have my foot on the gas actually, like if i take my foot off of teh gas and let the car slow down. It usually happends at low idle too, like if i let my foot off the gas to slow down when im in 3rd gear and goin 45, then it doesnt go on. Its wierd, ill check it again, but from what i saw it was 16 short flashes.
