Hey
I have a 1985 Honda Accord SE-i. It has a cable clutch and today I was driving it and all of the sudden when I pushed in the clutch and it got a lot softer and after that the clutch was slipping everytime I would give it enough gas to try and get some power to the ground. I can drive it around normally but as soon as I try to get some power out of it the clutch just starts slipping.
Basically the clutch is now not fully engaging the transmission and engine. It probably isn't a bad clutch only because it's fairly new, I don't beat on it, and it happened all of the sudden.
I discovered the clutch cable was kinda messed up (hard to explain) but I fixed what was apparently wrong with it and it still has the same problem. It could still be the cable but I highly doubt it. What would cause the clutch to not fully engage like this?
I'm thinking maybe something internally is wrong but I really don't know. Any suggestions?

Okay. I went out and removed the clutch cable thinking maybe that it wasn't letting the clutch fork fully release the TOB but as it turns out the clutch still slips when I try to get power out of it.
This leads me to believe that the clutch has checked out BUT I still don't understand why this would have happened all of the sudden like this. I had never had problems with it slipping or even acting up before this happened yesterday.
BEFORE i go and remove the tranny (probably tomorrow) I would like to maybe get some ideas of what to check for before I remove possibly saving me a weekend and a few bucks. Thanks in advance.
