Default Buying a new Header! a few questions about gains and fitment

i currently have my supercharged R with a JDM DC 4-1 header, Carsound cat and flexpipe and T1R catback. Sounds great

i just picked up the resonated T1R test pipe, which i was going to install yesterday.

but...the kid i bought the header and cat from...welded the flex pipe, cat and header all together and cut off the flanges!!

so there is no real way for me to use the T1R test pipe with my current header, unless i welded them together, which i dont want to do because it's dumb and because i would have no flex in the entire system if i did that

SO, to get to the point....

i am buying a new header...

i want the best gains possible and i need it to fit onto the T1R testpipe and exhaust.
also keep in mind, i am still using PS and AC

headers i am debating between: Spoon 4-2-1, Mugen 4-2-1, T1R 4-2-1

i am leaning towards the spoon, but im not sure if either of the 3 are better than one another, or if there is another header that im not including in my decision making that i should consider...

i already searched a ton and it has brought me thus far

thanks for viewing

Read the great header test yet? (Maybe it's not up anymore, it got moved around from host to host a bit). Spoon > Mugen. Toda, others > **** but OUCH $$$. Still, talking 1-2 HP between Toda, Spoon, etc. MUgen -2 off that. 4-2-1 better for midrange, 4-1 better for top, but better keep it in VTEC or not much difference in 4-1. Do some searches and PM the others with JRSC. Not sure what works good with that, or if it makes any difference.

The T1R would be the best choice for fitment considering you run the rest of the set-up. There are a couple guys local to me that run the whole set-up and they like it a lot. They're N/A though.

My friends dad; yeah, that's right, his dad, just got a JR supercharger installed, along with a header/exhaust, on his ITR. I'll ask him what header he's running.

If I were buying a header today I would go with the Toda. Based on what I've researched I believe it to be the best 'off the shelf' header available.

Other headers I've looked at are the Pro-Fab, Vibrant, J's and Spark Racing. Unfornately, I have not read any real testimonials on any of them.

I'm picking my car up from A&J Racing tomorrow morning. I can ask them their opinion on running the T1R header with a S/C.

Hope any of this helps

No need for a flex pipe... I don't have one and I run the jimfab mounts without any problems.

From what I have heard the Kamikaze header is one of the best for a S/C motor.

Check out their "claim to gain" over the Kamikaze. It doesn't quite apply to the current situation but I thought I'd post 'er up for fun. This post "Spark"-ed my interest in the header.

Out of curiousity, does anyone know what other mods this ITR was running? It says he's very mildly modded, but doesn't list the mods.

Man that's kinda wack they use the Kami header for a comparison....but whatever sells I guess....

I think the answer to your questions are on here:
http://www.theoldone.com/compo....html

Kami appears to be the best off the shelf header for S/C apps. as some members have already pointed out.

JRSC's like large and short primaries. Hence why the Kamakazie has always been a good choice, since it offers fairly large primaries that are very short, and its cheap.

Most of the higher priced N/A pieces available have large primaries, but they are LONG, which will in turn hurt the performance of your setup.

Didn't HyTech make a supercharger hedaer?

The best N/A header systems will not be the best for SC.

Ditto.

If you're lower than stock you might want to consider otherwise or be extra careful all the time.

As far as comptech being better than spoon and mugen its not. That must have been the comptech long tube.
