no start
91 integra ls not turning over or when starting car. i check the connections from the battery to the starter there good and no blown fuses. i was think maybe main relay or ignition switch not sure how to troubleshoot if anyone can help please do thanks.
how old is your battery and starter? it could be as simple as those. sparkplugs? new alternator maybe?
your best bet is to get the little things diagnosed. go to your nearest auto shop and get your battery and starter read.
IMO.

here's my breakdown, on the diagnosis: (listen to the engine bay)
starter: it tries to start, but it can't
alternator: it tries to start, but the core tries to spin (clicks*)
battery: your console is out, your cluster, your headlights don't work... anything electrical
it could get ellaborate.
change your sparkplugs, check your distributor, bad fuel pump, empty fuel tank... etc.
but i would always check on the easy and simple things first.
any comments, feel free to correct me.
thanx

[[starter: it tries to start, but it can't]]
Well, that's a very general description! Actually, the starter motor turns the engine. Since the starter draws more current then the ignition (key) switch can handle, a solenoid does the actual connecting of battery power to the starter motor.
[[alternator: it tries to start, but the core tries to spin (clicks*)]]
Ummm, an alternator does not 'start' or click. It is a belt driven device that generates voltage/current to supply the vehicle with power and recharge the battery. The ECU does however use an 'FR' signal from the alternator to... among other things... sense when the engine is running.

Add to that a clicking noise from the starter solenoid. If not enough current is being supplied, like in the case of a bad battery or poor battery cable connections, there will only be enough power for the solenoid to 'kick in'. Once it does, the starter motor sucks the rest of the current away, and the solenoid 'kicks out'. This will repeat until there is no more current left to actuate the solenoid.

no when i turn the key to start u hear just one click thats it and check dash lights go out
All this is assuming you've correctly checked over the battery cables and their connection points.
Check your battery terminal connections- if all lights go out and your battery is strong then you are experiencing excessive voltage drop in the circuit. Usually a low charged battery will make a rapid clicking of the starter solenoid. The main relay has absolutely nothing to do with the starter or its circuit. Check your grounds to the chassis and engine. The alternator will only cause a starting problem if it is siezed or shorted. Since you have voltage before you try to crank, I would assume that the alternator is not shorted. If the starter clicks once but you have DIM dash lights- then you probably need a starter.
no wonder i had to change both my battery and my alternator. once i bought an alternator, i thought that was just it, but then the rebuilt alternator (which isn't always 100% effective) started eating voltage out of my old battery. i went ahead and bought a new battery and exchanged my alternator
good info guys

most aftermarket alternators are absolute trash heaps- save yourself some time and aggravation- get Honda parts. You could carve an alternator out of a terd and have something worth more than an alternator from Autozone.
