Are these decent springs?
Hey guys, I wanted to lower my car, and I found these on eBay. I know they're dirt cheap, and I have a feeling they'd be pretty crappy. As of now, I couldn't find an Eibach kit for a '97 on eBay, so I might wait a while.
Are these even worth checking out?

I wouldnt recommend them... i wouldnt reccomend springs at all... buy some coilovers(ground control are good) I would stay away from the no name brands because they dont tend to last too long. cpilovers are good because u can adjust the height of your ride in minutes
OK, so how much $$$ am I looking at with a set of coilovers? I assume most "kits" come with springs too? I imagine that would be the way to go.
Is Eibach's prokit any good though? Just curious. This is my first "other" car besides the Chevelle, and things are quite different.

How much? I'm a n00b, so I can't use IM on here... contact me on aim if you want: "dvst8ive"
I appreciate the help guys, but I have a couple of questions. You'll have to forgive my suspension ignorance, but the Chevelle is the only car I've ever had, and it's a bit simpler than the Prelude.
When you combine a set of performance springs with a set of adjustable coilovers, like the Ground Control coilovers + Eibach springs, what governs the amount of adjustability in the suspension? For example, the GC coilovers say there's a range of adjustability from 0-4 or so inches, and the springs themselves provide a 1.5"-2" drop. All I want is about a 2" drop, so I guess I would set the coilover to almost it's "maximum" position and let the spring take care of it, or what?
Also, how do you adjust these coilovers? I've never owned a car with coilovers and never played with 'em, so I wouldn't know. Do you have to take the load off the car (i.e., putting the car on jacks) or what? Just curious.

If you are looking for Eibach springs, I have a set of used pro-kit's on Ebay right now.

Also, you wouldn't combine the pro-kit with the GC's. You need shock's to go along with a spring (like the Eibach's), or if you got the GC's you also need shocks (the GC's aren't a full coilover, but rather a sleeve). Either way you need shocks. Hope this helps you sounded a little confused.
Not as simple as the chevelle huh.

for all of you who think megan racing stuff sux....
megan racing makes some really high quality stuff, for an affordable price... i know 2 people who have megan racing lowering springs, and they are really good stuff. myself.. i have a complete megan SS ehxaust and some suspension pieces... im not tryin to promote them, but until you have tried it for yourself, don't dog them. just because they are more inexpensive than tein, or eibach, doesn't mean they suck....

So, would it be OK to use stock shocks with GC coilovers and Eibach springs? How about stock shocks with just Eibach springs? I'm on a real tight budget as of right now (poor college student) so I'm just curious.
I am not a big advocate of using the stock shock's with aftermarket springs, especially if they have mileage. I know people are going to say the opposite, this is just my opinion. No right or wrong answer.
Megan Racing is crap. They might have a couple of decent quality items but I would not risk it.
I recently purchased a Megan Racing strut bat for my car and it didn't even come close to fitting on the car.

Can you adjust the alignment of your ride in minutes too? I think not
. A good brand name spring (Eibach, Tanabe, Nuespeed) will feel just as good as the adjustable springs (skunk2, ground control) will, but real full coilovers will always feel the best

How do you adjust the ride height with coilovers? Never used 'em, so I'm curious. I'm thinking of going ahead and saving up for a set of coilovers and new shocks.
Stock shocks only last about 2-3 months depending on how much you lower the ride height (1.5" drop with GC coil-overs). I switched to Koni yellows and had a big improvement, but it may be out of your budget. Koni's are not cheap.
dude just get TEIN you will never look at any other sets of suspensions ever again ive had mine for 2 years and used and abused them and they wont quit working. like old boy said tires plus suspenion are very vital to racing and more important you life! start off corect get tein spend the money you'll thank me later
ok you have a drag strip car are you going to get a plain rear end or the ford 9in? thats the differance

The only benifit I see for coilovers is that you can get custom spring rates. It has been to my experience and experience of others with coiloverse that once they have a desired height, you pretty much keep it there permanently. Get you around 40 bucks for a new alignment as well everytime you change it up.

OTS rates for some gc's should be ok on stock shocks, but yes, it will greatly reduce the life span on the stock shocks. Aside from just that, you would NOT want to ride on stock shocks with some coilovers... it'll feel like *** and you'll know it after a week driving on it.

I have skunk2 coilovers on my lude and the ride is great
w/ stock shocks btw
Like everyone else has said, don't go with cheap suspension just to save a little... I had arospeed coilovers on my civic and really, I dont know how I didnt shatter my back in million pieces! then I had neuspeed race springs, much better but my shocks were blown.
so just get a decent combo of springs/coilovers and shocks and you'll be good to go
