Crack on top of gas tank, what are my options?
Well my friend had a problem of gas leaking from the gas tank, only at a full tank of gas. At first i thought it was the fuel lines, but upon closer inspection, it seems it was coming from the actual gas tank. My theory is that there is a little object sticking out from the body right on top of the gas tank, and is right of the fuel pump (when facing the car), so closer to the driver side. And this object seem to have punctured the gas tank, maybe when he hit a bump or something.
So what are his options?
1. go to honda and have them replace the gas tank
2. go to a shop that can weld the gas tank closed.
3. buy a gas tank and do a DIY
option 1, i'm afraid is going to be pricey since the gas tank is roughly 300$ itself in addition, labor; but i will probably call to get an estimate. option 3 is an indecisive one since i have never uninstalled/installed a fuel tank, and i'm pretty sure most of us haven't either. option 2 might be a cheap one, but i don't know what shop can do it.
SO any insight on this?
by the way, his car is a 92 civic

Searched on the forum and read some guy replaced the gas tank at honda, and the total cost 300-400$, and I doubt that's not including the gas tank.
