Bodyshop damaged my PIAA fog lamps, pls. help me make a decision
Hi everyone,
I dropped by the bodyshop this afternoon to see how things were going with my car repaint and rust work. I didn't even recognize my car. Everything was stripped, most of the paint was sanded down. There was more rust than I expected to see.
Anyways, that's not what I need your advice on. While talking to the owner, he told me one of his guys was trying to take out my PIAA fog lamps, one of them got stuck and he yanked on it and dropped it and broke the lense. The owner is giving me 3 options. Give me the money back for what I paid for them (I don't have the receipt because it was a cash deal), they buy another set of PIAA fog lamps for me or they paint the inner door jams for me in exchange. The colour I chose is slightly different, so they're already going to paint the rear inner door jams, but said he will paint the rest of the door jams. This paint job is costing me a fortune. What do you guys think I should do?
I already called the store where I bought the PIAA fog lamps and they don't have them anymore. I can try other stores, but do you think I will get more bang for my buck if I got them to paint the inner door panels? Thanks.

I was leaning towards getting them to paint the door jams.
What other fog light company would you recommend? The ones I had were small and round and I like that style.

There's nothing wrong with PIAA fogs. He just said that because they're old school. The hint would be you can't even get that style anymore. Just go with the door jams. Save up for some more fogs later

Yeah, I'm leaning more towards getting the door jams done. Do you have any advice in terms of what type of fog lamps to get? Manufacturer wise that is.
Thanks

I honestly don't recall the model number. The best I can describe them to you is, they are the smallest round lamps with the black housing. They retail for $170 cdn.

Mine aren't that big. They were small enough to fit snuggly in the grill without cutting it. They had the black housing too. So, you think it's the 9000? I've been calling around and PIAA has changed alot of their models. I don't see the one I had on their website anymore.
Here's another delema that I thought of last night. It cost me $188 to have these fog lamps installed, so in total I paid $348 for the unit and the install. Now, if I decide to get the bodyshop to paint the door jams, I'm stuck buying a new set and paying for a new install because the store told me the wiring are different in each model. So, now I really don't know what to do. I've tried searching for the same pair, but can't find them. If I'm able to find them, then all that needs to be done is connect the lamps to the existing wires. Oh, boy.

Paint the door jams. Sorry this had to happen to you Susan. Bad things always happens to good people. PIAA's were clean too..(This is E-Jayin' btw)
You paid 188 for the install?
I put in my fogs in 3 hours with a friend for free.
Paint the door jams.
If you really want get some OEM 'style' fogs off ebay and if you want to go the distance have someone do a projector retrofit ont hem and they'll be sick as hell.

Hey E-Jayin', you changed your user name?? I really liked those PIAA's. They were a perfect fit. And now they've replaced them with more expensive ones.
Thanks for helping out. This really sucks.

Yeah, I took my car to my dealer to have them install them. They were the only guys I could trust and they did a great job. Charged me 2 hrs. labour.
The OEM style fogs, are they yellow lights? Because I like the super white look. I'm going from yellow to white.

What i'm doing is getting a basic fog kit for my civic and having projectors retrofitted into them. Theyre much brighter that way. They even sell HID fogs nowadays....but i wouldnt buy them because the whole point is to cut through fog anyway...

I'm not prejudice against yellow because I am asian. lol. But I going all white!!

Ah, that would look cool!!
Yeah, I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the fogs. If I can get someone to install them cheap, then I'll be OK. But I can't even get a hold of my friend who's a mechanic, so I dunno.

I called the store where I originally purchased the fogs and they told me they can order me a replacement piece (the piece that's broken) for $90. This model has been discontinued because they have newer models out. Do you think it's worth the $90 or should I put that $90 towards a newer model?
If anyone can help me post pics. of my fog lamps, that would be great. Then you can give me a

Thanks

So, should I just put them back onto my car? Will it explode? The bodyshop offered to pay me $200 for the fog lamps because I decided not to paint the door jams. This paint job is costing me a fortune, so I didn't want it to go over to what I had set it to be.
