I have a EX automatic . What is a good idle . I have had other 4 cylinder cars that Idled at 1 grand , Would it bother my car to have it at 1grand ?

 

750 (+ or - 50)..........

 

 

my JRSC civic idles at about 1.2k when cold then settles down to about 800rpm when warm..depends on altitude too

 

OK those numbers mean when its in gear or when its in neutral or park ? ?

these are at idle. out of gear...wont catch me dead in a automatic unless its a hearst

 

havent done the drag thing yet..mostly hot runs along the coast hiway up in marin county..stinson beach to bodega bay are nice rides..but on those winding roads ive taken on itr ls s, and done the civic community proud also seen a camaro in the rear view mirror hit the bush s trying to keep up..either the car is running hot or these guys cant drive

4 barrel.... ....my dad was all into that scene or he still is. i forget but my dad dropped in a motor of an old *** dodge and it had 4 barrel on it. he dropped into his nissan truck. i swear that damn truck ripped ***. he couldnt get the drive shaft machined correctly so it kept breaking(3 times). it almost killed him one time racin somebody. he gots a 92 camaro now with so many mods i cant name them all. sorry. all i can say is. if it wasnt for my father i wouldnt know half the sh*t i know about cars.

 

700 is way too low

 

I know this , when ever I am in gear at a redlight the damn idle drops so much it feels like I am in a popcorn popper LOL . I am thinking about adjusting the idle myself . This is the idle that was on the car when I bought it

 

Mines 1500 when its first started, then it settles to 800...sometimes 900...i dunno why? Maybe because its a piece?

 

900.. cold start around 2100 and goes goes til 900 after 3 mins.

 

yeah thats what I said...it gets "sputtery". Just a hair under 800 is perfect.

 

i think its the automatic choke that keeps the idle up high with rich fuel..when it warms a bit the choke shuts off and ur idle comes down to normal
