Anyone using LED bulbs for tail-lights?
Hey guys, I "cleared out" my tail lights,

and I was wanting to put in a set of LED clusters to use for tail-lights/brake lights. I picked up a couple of 7443 LED clusters (Super-white) off the internet, but they don't seem to be too bright. They work, but they are too unidirectional and not quite bright enough to fill the entire lens.
Does anyone else out there have LED's for brake lights? I have two 1157's on my Chevelle, and they illuminate nicely - I just like the way they look. If you've got 'em, let me know, cause I need something brighter with a broader spectrum of illumination. Does anything like that exist?
TIA,
-Chris

prelude1897, any more info on that tail light conversion? That is CLEAN.
Anyway, I just messed around with the tail lights one day and figured out how to get that amber square out. It requires a little bit of doing, but it's not hard.
I removed the tail lights, pulled the bulbs out and moved them aside, and then used a dremel (very carefully!) to go around the "socket" that holds the turn signal bulb in place. I made sure to go WAY outside of the socket as well. On the left and right sides of the socket are long, thicker rectangular pieces of plastic. (Sorry, it's hard to describe) Cut around those too.
When it's all said and done, you should have cut out the socket WITH the 2 big pieces at each end still attached. (Argh, this is hard without pics) Anyways, once you can look inside the tail light, you'll see that big nasty amber piece. It is in a squared 'C' shape, and you'll have to cut one of the long flat pieces that attach the amber to the back of the tail light assembly. Once that's cut, use a set of pliers to slowly pull the amber piece out.
After that, use a compressor to blow out all the debris in the light, and use either hot glue (ghetto) or some silicone adhesive (better) to re-seat that socket. Make sure to seal it in good, leaving no holes, otherwise you'll end up with a good bit of condensation in the tail light. Let it dry, and voila!
I'll keep looking for some pics of this, and post them if I find any.
