getting in the 12's
what do it take to get a 1991 civic si in the 12's with out going turbo cheapest way to get there
The car is going to be a kick around car
i been thinking about b16 J/R sc and nitrous
or a h22 but they dont make a mount kit
the price i can get a b18c for i can allmost get a b16 and a supercharger

Gut the car. H22 with the place racing weld in kit. Some motor work. Maybe some nice cams, pnp head, high comp pistons and forged rods. Z10 racing front cross member. Slicks and some strong axles and most importantly TUNING. You will easily have 12's all motor and maybe even lower.
I think that the Key to gettting in the 12's with a EF is about 190~200hp at the wheels and a car that weigh's about 2000lbs
What ever set up you choose thats the HP # that you need to strive for

either motor option will work well. the H22 will be **** loads more work but prob will be faster. definitly gut the car. everything. all panels sound deadening. carpeting, tar sealer, and the passenger seat if thats the distance u r willing to go. if u r still gonna be driving this car though it will be real loud. i took out all of th sound deadening **** and sound proofing and thats a good amount of weight. also if u remove all the carpeting and take out the tar **** under there and put the carpet back down thats a good amount of weight gone.
If you want to run forged aluminum pistons in an H22 you must resleeve the block. The stock sleeves are made of an aluminum composite and don't work with aluminum pistons. The stock pistons have an iron coating to work with the sleeves. Kinda puts a damper on building an H22 if ya ask me.
Plus, it's heavy. You're adding 85 lbs over what a B16 weighs to the front of an already nose-heavy car.

yup...for the price of a h22 you could buy about 5 si motors and you could have 5 12 (or sub 12) sec runs...maybe more. hehe...from what i understand, a 12 second car isnt very streetable, your gonna have some problems, some may keep you down for a while. If your just going to race it.. go for it... H22's in a EF will not only cause SUPER understeer, and throw the entire weight balance of your car off..(no more quick lane changes at 70 mph). I've actually heard of them twisting frames. If you want a Strip car...go H22...but if you want a streetable car..Go with a GSR or a ITR and be happy with a low 13.

H22 is a totally insane setup in an EF... Hope you have some good cutting tools, alot of patience. A creative mind and crafty hands will do you some good too.
It's alot of work, but well worth it (I hope)... I'm not quite half way, but getting there slowly and surely a bit at a time. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

my attempt at getting into the 12's is gonna be with a 90 civic si/some weight loss/ semi-built ls/vtec(pr3 pistons/bal-blue/etc) and the usual I/H/E plus 75shot zex... theres a guy on here who has basically the same motor and ran 13.2's w/street tires and 65shot. so maybe w/drag radials and 75 you'd be poking twelves. hope so, also hope it holds together
my car...
89 civic si
ls/vtec
b16a pistons
str fuel rail
legend injectors
skunk 2 cam gears
aem cai
thermal exhaust
75hp shot of ZEX
skunk2 coilovers
kyb shocks
13.2...
what i want to do now...
88 crx si
ls/vtec
11.5 je pistons
crower rods
P&P ITR intake manifold/tbody
head work...
ITR cams
J1 tranny
skunk2 coilovers
KYB AGX's
hopefully low 13's N/A adn with a 50 shot about mid-high 12's...

Personally, I would just do a 95 LS motor with a drag III turbo, run 8 PSI, you WILL hit 12.30 on slicks, you wont have to run springs or retainers because your not running a lot of boost, and you can hit high 12s with all your interior.. Get the turbo, BOV, intercooler, and boost gauge, head gasket, and fuel pump.. You will not need springs, retainers, pistons, rods, AFC, none of that crap unless you wanna run more boost and get 11's.. AND, with the LS with a drag III kit, you can drive it on the street very easily. My buddy just did one in his 92 Hatch, and he can pull 12.55 with his full interior.. And thats only on 8 PSI.
ok ricey mcricerton, first of all val is running al motor b20/vtec, and second val has his motor in a 97 COUPE! if he had that in ANY ef he would be a 12 for sure.
and crxgator you need to tune your car! either that or you are running the 1/4 in denver! ur telling me that ls/vtec and b16 pistrons PLUS a 75 shot gets you a 13.2? hell, i would have been close to that on my stock b16 with that much juice.
