I've put about 1000 miles on my Kawi 250R, (~6990 miles) The previous owner wasn't sure of the last oil change and I checked the little oil level and it's about half way down, where should it be? I don't have an owners manual, I'm trying to get one on eBay.

is it a window? if so there shold be markers(level marks) on the case. CHANGE THE OIL NOW!!!

 

If he was not sure when the oil was changed, then you should prob change the oil now, even if you yourself only put 1k on it. If the oil was sitting in the bike for a while (months).........that's bad.

 

It's a 250. Those things run forever.

If the previous owner was unsure of the last oil change, be sure to go over the rest of the bike to see that nothing seems to be just dangling or about to break apart.

 

If you can see it in the sight glass- your good to go- To be safe, the upper half of the sight glass is better. But it does need to be changed- should have done it before you got on. I'm puttin 20w-50 in my 500- Yours should take anything from 5-30 to 20-50 as well. 10-40 is always safe

 

im my bikes, i like to change the oil before it gets totaly dirty every 2000miles or so...
