Default Teach me about the Lude'

To make a long story short...I'm a domestic muscle car guy down to the bone...I'm 20 yrs old and have had 5 Fbodies all of which I loved. I've had an Blown 5.0 Stang as well...Anyways, I've never been too interested in the sport compact "scene" it was never really my thing, and honestly still isn't.

But anyways, I'm very open minded about stuff, I just recently sold the 5.0 so I could afford to go to school, I still wanted something fun to drive, but something that was also reliable, cheap, and good on gas. So I picked up an 91 Prelude Si.

It is actually fun to drive, its kind of like a little go kart lol and it handles pretty well. That being said, I don't really know much about these cars and would like to learn, and possible spend a LITTLE bit of money on this thing just to make it a funner daily driver.

As of now the only real plans are for tint, a 75 Shot and a short throw shifter, I also need to get a camber kit soon since it's been lowered. But I really don't want to spend too much money on this thing as it is serving as my sole transportation at the moment.

Anyways, here's a couple pics so you can get a visual

Not a bad car for 2 grand :D

nice car dude, I'm in the same situation as you, always been into sportbikes but needed something to drive dailly. Found a Red 91 Si, its been doing me good for about a year now.

Short throw is a pain, you need someone to custom make it for you. All in all the aftermarket for this car is weak, wait, nonexistant. So anything you do will have to be custom made.

People have done custom turbo setups and some swap out for H22 engines, I'm not motivated enough to do something of the nature though, esp since I can hop on my bike and get my speed rush, its still a good dependable car that runs despite my abuse.

Check out http://www.preludepower.net theres lots of third gen people there.

Nice looking car, decent deal too! There are some other sites more devoted to the 3rd gen. prelude, like preludepower.com, hpoa.org, but this site has some good information in the archives too. Welcome, and keep it clean! Oh, and I don't envy you in a black car in arizona.

Nice car!!

I love F-body Mustangs!! One day I will get an 87-92 Mustang.

As for your plans, if you want reliable, don't do the 75 shot.

Ok, I think I figured it out, I replaced the radiator cap and PCV valve yesterday...I think the cap I got was too strong, the cap I got is 13lbs, whats stock?

I'm thinking the cap kept it too pressurized and it blew a heater hose off.

Seems to be ok now, just gonna have to keep my eye on it.

I'm guessing you didn't write all that in the same breath. Anyway, welcome to the scene, I hope you enjoy your new sport compact car! Nice specimen by the way. I've always liked 3rd gens.
Prelude owners are a devoted bunch (preludeonline.com, preludepower.com, absoluteprelude.com, plus h-t and lots of regional boards), so you've got plenty of online resources.

I'm not sure what the stock pressure on the cap is, but I'm in the habit of buying Honda genuine parts from the dealer (unless they're just way too expensive), that way you don't have to worry about specs like that. Unless you're upgrading something.

lol I'm a nitrous junkie.

I might have to just go ahead and get a cap from the stealership, I figured something as generic as a radiator cap shouldn't be too complicated to buy at autozone lol.
