New NSX???
Yes, it's the "new" NSX, but really it's mechanically the same. The only differences are cosmetic except for a tiny lip underneath the rear spoiler. It's supposed to lower the drag coefficient a tad, raising the top speed from 168 to 175 (I think
). The NEW NSX is supposed to arrive some time in '04, possibly with a V8 exceeding the Japanese gentleman's horsepower agreement rating of 276. 400bhp?!?!

The common term for the 2002 NSX is "facelift".
I was talking to someone at the autocross on sunday who I guess works for Honda/Acura or something... According to him, it'll come out in 2k3 as a 2k4 model (why would they face lift for 1.5 years of retail?) and that it's also almost definitely not going to have a V8, but rather a kickass V6. He said the 3.5L V6 they use in the MDX is a de-tune, and that it started off putting out something like 350hp, and could easily go up from there. He said they're having problems keeping a drivetrain under it. Which I find kind of hard to believe since Supercharged NSXes seem to do just fine with 400+ hp. *shrug* I don't really know where he got his info, or how reliable it is. It was still an interesting conversation, though. Heard some things I hadn't heard before.
If you think about it, it would really make sense for Honda to put a V6 in the next car. They have a habit of wanting to stomp all over everyone for specific output. I think the 360 Modena is 3.6L @ 113 hp/l if I remember correctly. The S2K is 120hp/l. M3 is 3.0 @ 111 hp/l. If Honda did a 3.5L V6 @ 120hp/l, that'd be 420hp. Which would be plenty, IMO. Even if they only did 110 hp/l, that'd be 385hp, which combined with Honda's ability to make a car way faster than the numbers make it seem like it should be, it'd kick some serious butt.
He also said the Dualnote has nothing to do with the next NSX, and that it's just a toy. Also, that in the Dualnote, there's something like 150hp coming out of the motors in front and like 450hp coming out of the engine in back. Which is way more than the press releases said, so who knows.

V8s can be of small displacement as well. 3.6L V8 is not much different from a 3.5L V6 in your hp/L argument.
Also the "detuned" V6 in the MDX is a honda of Ohio engine which was taken from the Odysee which was taken from the Accord/TL.
In my experience people who work for the Companies usually are about the last people to know what is coming and when. If they are privy to this info they are bound to keep it under wraps.

V8s are still bigger from a packaging standpoint, though. And are also more expensive because they need more expensive parts like pistons and connecting rods, and more complicated crank and camshafts.

Saw a '02 NSX at Acura of Brookfield (WI) today.
Something like Ocean City Blue it was called.... someone correct me here if I'm wrong.
Facelift
I'll still take a '91-'01 over it.
It's what is under the NSX's skin that counts.

Sorry about the quality of the pictures. This was the first time that I got to actually use my camera, so I am still learning how to use it.

NSX has always been my dream car as far as I can remember. I always told myself that I'd buy a used one cause I like it so much. The facelift looks good in my opinion, and once I get out of college and can afford it, I'll probably buy the newest facelifted version i can find in the right color. The 400 hp monster sounds good, but I hear it will not be a mid-engine car, which is part of the reason why the NSX is so sweet in my opinion.
