got a P8R head!
hello its my first post on here HT but been reading on here for 2 years. I found some interesting about P8R head. I looked up on some car site here in canada and found P8R head! he was selling it for $100 cdn but i talked him down to $85 cdn. oh man im so glad that i got it for dirt cheap. i've seen those goes for $250us on HT classfield. i am planning on to get engine swap next year. i drives a CRX with d15b bottom end and sohc zc head. is $85cdn a good deal!?! its P8R-8. i've seen pics with different number besides P8R - x like 11, 12, and 7. or are they all the same?
well i did research and i cant use the P8R head on 81mm bore block. i know b16 is 81mm block but what about b18? like b18a, b18b, or b18b1. or how about b18c without vtec head? i know its goin to be hard to find a b20 block. but i'll try to find a b20 block! personally, i prefer non-vtec set up.
You need to have an 84mm bore for that head. The 1.8's and the 1.6's have a std bore of 81mm and cant be bored to 84. You can find yourself a 1.8 block and have it resleeved and bored to 84+mm.
Or find yourself a b20, but keep in mind the prices of each and the resleeved block will be stronger.

Head is amazing, vtec killer.
My setup:
p8r-7 head
b18b1 block stock internals
gsr tranny
converted back to obd1 and tuned
headers full exhaust
cai
msd ignition
few other basic bolt ons, stock GSRs cannot touch me. Somewhere on these forums, a guy posted a chart where he took it to like an air flow testing place (totally don't remember the word), and it flowed identical to the gsr head, and actually from .300 to .500 lift, it flowed a tiny bit better.
You can get roughly 155-160 hp with a good tune and that head, believe me.
I have seen some posts on the non vtec forums of dyno slips with I think close to 210 horsepower with the p8r-7 head, crower 404 cams, and fully built b20 block...
It also raises the compression to I think 9:6:1 or 9:7:1.. perfect head to turbo imo, torque monster already.
Came on the: Japan only - 96-98 Honda crv, orthia, ms-x, step wagon.

hahaha most people on this board were probably in diapers back then!
anyway since its already bumped and the damage is done: yeah p8r is solid, got one in my daily driver currently. as a complete motor they came on p3f blocks and have the tiny intake cam so... swap it on a phk block with 2 layer hg and throw in a b18b or phk b20 intake cam and your p8r b20 wont fall on its *** at 5500rpm.
