Default RMF in my EF, cooling fan ideas.

HEy guys i am in the middle of my massive project right now, going from stock DX hatch to Fully built 1.85 liter b-series converted to OBD-1 with an RMF header. Anyway, i already cleared the **** outta the crossmember, so thats a non issue. But the stock cooling fan is just completely in the way with the RMF. I cut the shroud, and then the fan blade itself hits the header. So i am thinking, pusher fan or super slim fan.

Cliff Notes. Give me your input on a different cooling fan setup that will clear my RMF header.

What, mount the stock fan in front so its a pusher? I'm not quite sure what you're saying.

I agree, front mount the fan and reverse the wires and turn it into a pusher. You will have to buy an aftermarket slim fan though. I am using a universal slim fan with the tabs that push through the fins on the radiator and it works fine. Even though I mounted mine in the stock location it will fit in the front of the radiator. It is a tight fit but it will work if you use a slim fan 12'' universal.

Here's a pic, i cut the shroud, as you can see if you look closely, the blade hits the header. I am pretty much 100% sure now i am gonna use a universal mounted front as a psuher. o if you know any good fans and a place that ships quick let me know.

Stop by Autozone, PepBoys, O'Reilly's etc; most of them sell the Hayden brand line of slim fans.

Hayden a good brand of slim fan...I front mounted two of them and got plenty of room now for a header.

How do you like that header? I have heard unless you have a fully built motor than you will lose power with the custom headers.

The problem I see with most custom headers is that they make most of the power at the top of the power band. I guess that's cool if you are revving the **** out of your engine. For me I like a more torquey engine with gains in the mids. I guess its just preference!

If you look at the RMF header test, it made torque gains across the entire range, its really impressive.

I gues I will have to look closer at the test. But even if I wanted that header it wouldnt fit because of my koyo radiator and stock crossmember. BTW Sorry to stray off topic!

I got a hayden fan from advance like suggested above, it was cool cause i could buy it immediately friday and install it. Its mounted now, its super slim, and its a pusher, so i got a ton of room now. But now i am trying to fix my code 9 and fix my idle that goes lean after 20 seconds...ahhhhh this sucks. Thanks for the suggestions though, i used them.
