Firewall conversion?????
anyone here do a RHD conversion on their ride??
did you swap the firewall out yourself or did you get it done at a bodyshop?
i have an usdm 00 civic hatch and a ek9 (both complete)
and i am planning on swapping the firewalls over. (to have it rhd) it will be a show car so it wont see much road.
the question is how hard is it to swap the firewalls???
i own a bodyshop and i have only done 1 rhd conversion and that was on an old austin mini but it didnt require a firewall swap.
i know people have done the ek rhd conversion but i looked around and no specific details so if anyone has any info lmk plz..

At least when I wipe my *** with a bag full of twenties I can wash em and use them afterwards.

already done a search and nothing came up.
all it has is people posting up rhd cars, and some guys doing a project log with no details in pics for the rhd itself.
anyone here know the exact how-to?
cutting the front end of the car is stupid. its a waste of time and unless you got brand new parts that are being changed (ie front end of the floor etc) this will not be very strong.
i used to work at Honda so i already know my stuff. just asking people that have done it if its going to be pretty straight forward or not. if its straight forward like replacing a quater panel that was in an accident (that type of straight forward) thanks for the reply;s. i will post pics as soon as i take them.

I heard you gotta disconnect everything attaching the front end from the back (of course) and take out the welds holding the firewall, then weld it back...
I also hear it's not safe or something. I dunno, I figure as long as it's straight it'll be alright... especially if you do more than spot welding like Honda, might be safer.

i did a firewall swap out on a buddys EG hatch. The real pain in the *** in this is removing everything inside and out on the firewall. I jjust cut out the old one and welded in the one from the JDM front clip. Also rolled and welded in sheet metal on the sides for extra strength. we also removed the windshieds for in-case **** purposes. It went pretty well with some innovation and its still driving around
yea thats what i figured aswell.
i already have the ctr fully stripped out.
i also found some images of firewall cut outs on the net. i will post pics up.
i guess its pretty straight forward from the pics i saw as it removes the complete front section of the firewall.

notice the drill outs on where the spot welds would have been.
and i was looking at my shell aswell and they seem to pretty straight forward aswell. so i guess its time to start drilling holes.
