problem with paint, help and advise needed
ok maybe you guys could give me some advice on my problem. i painted today with one stage acrilic enamal. my compressor kept spitting out water i let the air out every night but on hot days it still spits it out. so earler today i put a new dry air hose on thinking that the water was just in the hose, about half way through the water started comming out the gun, and totally fucked up the paint job. what can i do to get rid of that water?
ok onto second problem. the paint is messed up, little bubbles from the water pretty much all over the car. so i am obviosly going to have to sand them out. how long would you wait to sand? also after i sand it with 400 grit could i just shoot a clear coat over it even though it was a one stage paint, or will i have to completly repaint it. any info would be great, this sucks ***. thanks alot

How big of a compressor is it? On hot days here we get that. But at the shop we have ..I can't remember the things name. Like an filter or something? It collects all the water going through the hose and keeps it in a container. Its like this.

Just something like that. We have one on the main line and then it branchs all over the shop.

its called a water seporator you need to hook it up befor the hose attaching to the compressor if you are trying to spray YOU NEED THAT! As for your paint imo sand it all down shoot base and clear at the same time. But if you want to save the paint which would be dumb considering the style paint you have and the fact that you have water all over your car dont sand with 400 start with 1000 and go from there it may take longer but it will be worth it.
For the sanding it really depends on how bad it is. I would sand it all down smooth and just spray over it again to be safe.
As for the water in the line you need an inline filter Ill get you a pic in a min.
Edit this is what you need.

You sure did. Trying to paint in the heat and humidity without a water trap is suicide. Good thing you learned on your own car and not someone else's.

make sure u get a water separator and not a tool oiler, sometimes they look alike also get a desacant (sp) dryer for added safty, its a small filter that screws on the the gun.
as for painting the car just do it again, sand it down smooth, reprime wetsand 400 grit, wash with dish washing soap, not car wash soap, dry, wipe and tack wipe. spray first coat, allow proper flash time between coats, apply second and third etc. let dry overnight at least. begin wetsanding. i use 2000 grit and plenty of soapy water. be sure to block sand at all times to prevent a wavy looking paint finish. then use a machince buffer at about 1000rpms cutting pad and a good cutting gel. not the cheap stuff at parts stores, you need to get a professional one at a paint supply store, then use a glazing pad and polish then finsish with a good wax and viloa!!! perfecct paint everytime.
pm me if you need more help
