Default MILES PER GALLON???

well now that summer is officially herr.. i was wondering what was the best way to get the most out of my gas tank.. i have heard that its better to drive with the windows up and the a/c on... and i have heard that its better to drive with the windows down and the a/c off. so i would like to know what one is it? and is it a big difference or is it a couple of miles on a tank?...

Thoughts?

the easiest way to get the most mile out of your accord is to control your right foot(and left if you have a manual), keep in under 3k as much as possilible.
practice letting the gas panel off and cruise to a stop light or stop sign, if you know you are going to stop.

and make sure your car is in good running condition, air filter, injectors, pcv,
etc check the tire pressure, it's a common point to check.

make sure your sparkplugs are gapped to factory spec, sand off the carbon of the terminal if they are all cover up, change them if needed

anything you turn on your a/c you are using more gas, just you are diehard for your gas money, dont use it at all.

in theory you can get more mileage with your window all the way up, more areodynamic=less air/wind resistance =less power require to move the car=les gas needed.(anything above 50mph-highway speed)

but i would just shoot myself in the head driving without a/c and window all the way up

cliffnote: a/c=alots of gas wasted

it was proven on a track that driving with the a/c on VS. driving with the windows down shows the same amount of gas being used.

as stated above the only real way to controll milage is to make sure your car is in good running shape and controll your foot

Yup...keep your car tuned up, use your interior recirculating feature on your HVAC, keep your rev's down and avoid stop and go traffic like the plague (it has been shown that an alternating route to routine locations, even driving 5-10miles out of your way over a route with alot of traffic will save you gas mileage, since you'll be able to keep a more constant and less strenious speed).

I wish in the miniscule state of NJ that were an option. I could do that when i lived in Atlanta, but here, there is one route everywhere....horrible.
