4.4 USDM final drive in JDM/Euro spec gearbox ?
Hi fellas,
Do any of you know if the USDM 4.4 final drive fits in the JDM/Euro spec. gearbox? I also have a Spoon Sports Cross gear set installed along with my Spoon 4.857 final drive.
But I want to make more top speed! Top speed now is only about 115 mph...
Will it be any problems for me to change my final drive to USDM 4.4. ?
Do I need any more parts beside the final drive itself?
Thanks in advance guys

Reading is fundamental.
I believe in order to make it work, you will have to get the 4.400 countershaft as well as the ring gear.... contact A&J Racing as they should know for certain.

But it obviously is
And yes the countershaft and ring gear will be needed, you US guys do after all have to get these JDM part when doing the reverse swap. But the parts should not be that hard or expensive to come by in the classifieds as most is going the other way on FD installs.

I have the 4.4 FD and countershaft to a '96 spec JDM ITR (same as USDM). Actually, its everything you need to take out when installing an ATS final drive, which is why I have the set. PM me if you want to make a deal with your gearset.

The 4.4FD will definitely work with the Spoon close gear set in your Euro Spec tranny. What you basically need is the countershaft, ring gear and a washer which sit underneath the 1st gear. You gotta be sure about the ring gear, Civic 93up B-series tranny has the same final gear ratio (which is 4.4) but the bolt pattern to the diff is different to the ITR so must make sure before you buy either one of them.

Yeah, yikes. I read about your car and thought about that. I love the way that close geared car sounds when you're going through the gears.
The 4.4 gear set would be a nice improvement in that car. But it would still only get you to 127 MPH.... Should be good enough for a lot of tracks and help on the highway!

Thanks for the help guys, I guess now all I have to do is get hold of the needed parts!
btw: I don't have just Spoon gears in my tranny - it is just 3, 4 and 5 - and the final drive. I was told my the mechanic that it originally was a cross gear set from Spoon for a Civic, so the 1 and 2 gear did not fit in the ITR-tranny.

True that! I really like the raw feeling and sound of the tranny/car now - but I miss some more top speed and more "healthy" cruising rpm-range for street driving. So a 4.4 FD will be perfect as I am thinking... kind of long 1 and 2, then shorter Spoon 3, 4 and 5 - and a approx. 1000 rpm lower compared to same speed as now in top gear.
