4-speed in a DX?
Hey all,
I'm looking at getting a 91 civic hatch, and the guy keeps telling me it's a DX. I think it might be an HF, though. It has the valve cover that says honda 16-valve on it and a 4-speed manual trans. I read on another post here that with the DX package came a 5-speed manual.
I just got the VIN codes from this forum yesterday and I'm going to check that and see, but do any of you know for sure if a DX civic ever came with a 4-speed? I read on another post here that with the DX package came a 5-speed manual.
thanks,
Patrick

ok, so would it be worth my time?
The car's almost bone stock, I'm going to hook it up a bit and sell it for a profit to some kid. I was thinking CAI, some sort of exhaust, general detailing/cleaning up.
It has like 190k on the clock and runs/sounds fine aside from a dime sized hole in the muffler, which I'd be switching out anyway. No strange pings, knocks, etc.

I loved mine, it is not a supercar but it can handle great with suspension work, and a engine swap isnt too hard, I put a D15B VTEC in mine and sold it when I got to the wiring. My friend has one right now with the D15B1 and just a CAI and a 2 1/2 in exhaust no cat or anything it is a fun little car.

no the std came with a motor almost exactly like the dx.
the only differences are the camshaft, exhaust, some changes on the intake such as a spacer, restrictor plates for more gas milege, ecu, and of course the transmission. oh, and i believe later in production the d15b1 was relabeled a b2, since they're basically the same motor anyway, with different bolt ons.
