Would 205/50/15 tires fit, on 15x6.5 rims, and not screw anything up as far as speedo and such on my 95 HB? Thanks!

Well its more than fitting this size tire on this size rim.

You have to look at the offset and how low you may want to drop the car as well. In this case +38 offset might fit good but Im not sure if you could drop it very low. But yes 205's will fit a 6.5 wheel no problem....thats what most people run.

 

As long as the overall diameter is the same or close to stock height, your speedo will not be off.
The 205 is the section width in millimeters (or 8.07 inches. Take 205 divide it by 25.4 and you convert mm to inches.)
The 50 is the aspect ratio in percentage. (50% of 205 which determines sidewall height.)
And the 15 is the rim size.

 

The rims are 40mm offset. So I wouldn't be able to drop the car much??

"Touch and go" its a saying lol. Like "close but no banana" but differnet haha...anyways.

Most guys that drop there cars have 195 50 15's unless you have serious lauch problems that is what I would suggest. For instance my current motor (K) puts out 212 whp and 180 Tq. I went with the 195's and traction isnt a big issue, it would be however if I drove like crap I guess.

The profile you get with a 195 is more desirable imo than a 205 in most cases. I wish people would give there tire sizes and offsets more in the cosmetic forum then you could see the differences.

 

With 1 1/4" drop you will rub at full lock.

 

The overallall diameter is going to be cloase enought with 195/50R15. 205/50R15 is too big. Your spedo well be off by about 8% at 110km/h. You can go with a 205/45R15, but you had better watch that fender. Mine is doing some rubbing cause i screwed up and put on 195/55R15 with crappy old coils that sag.

Well the question of the tire size has been answered, 195 maximum. What you will have to re-consider is the wheels you will need.

 

It depends on what model of hatch (trim level) on my 92 Si the stock size is actually larger versus my 20-50-15, meaning my speedo reads faster than I am actually going. But the Si came with 14's not thirteens. I have no rubbing problems except at full lock, but you never drive that way. My car is lowered about 1-1/2". And more offset (ie 40 instead of 35) will keep you from rubbing your fenders. Just make it more likely to rub at full lock on inside of wheel well.

I think perhaps you skipped over all the important stuff like how far he wants to drop it. Of course you could probably put 225's on with a 1.5 inch drop....but thats irrelevant.

 

i have 205/50/15's on ls wheels on my hatch and they dont rub the fender at all... sometimes it will rub the inner body of the car just a hair when making a very tight u-turn at slow speeds... the car is dropped pretty low... dont have an exact number but there is no fender to tire gap

 

Your right I thought I read 1.25" not 2.25". My mistake.
As for 225's one set of my R compounds are 225, they rub a bit, but stick nice.

Autocross on those one time (a full event) then look at that inner body that you speak of.

Im not sure the offset on those wheels but Im thinking +48

Heres an idea. Becuase were talking about an industry whose standards in sizing vary widely you should go down to a good tire shop ie:BiG O and have them "TEST FIT" a tire on that wheel with the car lowered to your liking.

Then your done.

it does have a scuff mark on the area where it occasionally rubs but its not bad... and like i said its only at slow speeds... if im going fairly quick it wont rub

I work at a tire shop and it almost imposible to garunte that a tire wont rub when a car is lowered as far as you want to lower it. Test fitting is the only way. Make sure they check for rubbing when the car is on the ground not raised on the hoist. When ever you slam a car as far as you plan to you will start running into problems. Camber is something else you will have to deal with. It is also harder on your bushings, cv joints, wheel bearings, and tie rods.
Vanity has a price.

 

Yes it would. I actually plan on getting 205/45 tires for my 15x6.5. I think 205/50 would look wierd, like too much tire.

 

they do look a little tall at times... but not very many companies make a 205/45/15 so your choices will be limitied

 

I run 205-50-15 and Skunk2 springs and its real close.......look.
