Default what number rod bearing?

ok, i have a d16a6 block and bought some eagle rods, notched it for rod clearance, solid decked it,now i need to buy my rod bearings and my question is for the eagle rods what number rod bearing should i run? I called endyn and they very quickly said #3 but on my stock rods it clearly has #2 on them..

i am not knocking larry or his employees , i just dont want to buy two sets of rod bearings because they didnot hear me clearly or were busy when i called..

I'm not a master engine builder or anything but could you not measure the clearances if you don't have the proper tools how about plastagauge

you may have ot buy multiple bearings. start with the middle sioze, check cleanraces and see how well it fits then go from there.

If you're buying the bearing from Honda, I'll say this, for the year that I worked there, every ASE master certified technician used Black bearings. That being said - Honda recommends a certain bearing for use with stock internals. For example - if the crankshaft were damaged and needed to be turned. That would require the use of a different "color" bearing to achieve the proper clearance. Plastiguage, if used correctly can be very helpful in this process. Anywho - If it were me, I'd go with the suggestion from the seasoned veterans at Endyn - but that doesn't mean not to check the clearance on everything. I'd go with whatever Larry suggets as a starting point. If you're interested - I've got a diagram of bearing color code in relation to approximate thickness somewhere around here. If you interested - I can probably scan it for you...
