what cause oil to squirt out between my head & block?...wtf
just like the title says...got my motor(b18c1) back from machine shop and put it in my car and when i cranked up the car...oil started to squirt out between my block & head hard....i put 4.5 qt of oil in before i crank it(it was less than 5 sec) and by the time i shut it off i probably have less than 1qt on it...first i thought it was my head gasket but its a new gasket...im not sure if the dowel pins have anything to do w/ it..do anybody knows what i've done wrong or causes that....
Was this a reputable shop and when you say dowel pins are you referring to something similar to the GE ls/vtec kit? If your referring to that, i've heard that the GE dowel pins for the kit are too big which means you have to bore out the holes the pins go in and maybe the machine shop F'd up???
..............Sorry this is one of my first responses to a tech question so if Im wrong, bare w/ me

whats did you get done at the machine shop? that will probably solve the problem. oviously a mating surface that is not flat will do it.
Does anti freeze come out to. I problem could be the head is not torqued properly. When they torqued the head down and there was oil in the head bolt holes causing them to get a false torque reading. I have not worked on a Honda engine. I have seen this on other engines i have worked on.

well,i got my head port & polish, block sleeve,pistons/rods put in,disassemble & assemble back...the squirting comes out right above the thermostat side, under the int manifold....
the shop check the surface of the head and block to make sure everything wasn't warp or **** up...i got stock dowel pins....somebody told me the if you installed the dowel pins on the wrong side in the intake side it will do that...???..i dont really know if the dowel pin does that, all i know that the dowel pins are only use for lineing the head and head gasket up....
I would say, Bring it back to the shop, and tell them to fix it. its OBVIOUS they fucked up, and its impossible for you to do ANYTHING to that motor when installing it, that would cause SUCH a bad oil leak.
Your losing Oil pressure, and you COULD be ******* up the Rod bearings. Just FYI, Dont touch the motor anymore. and tell your "Machine" shop to eat a dick.

Did they shave the head or deck at all, or is the HG thinner. If so, the stock size dowel pins may need to be shaved as well. If the dowels are too long, they will be taking the torque when the head is installed, instead of the gasket, obviously, this will leave a gap and cause problems.

also, check to be sure the head gasket is not backwards, vs upside down. the part that says "up" should be facing towards the firewall.
well,id called them as soon as the problem occured...and they told me that if i want to i could yank it out and bring it back to them to check it out...but i diddn't want to go through the trouble,so i told them if its ok w/ them ill pull the head off my-self and check it out...it was cool w/ them so i pull the head off and find out that the head gasket was upside down....i know that the guy that worked on my motor made a mistake..but its cool...evrybody make simple mistakes...ill be pretty pis if he'd **** it up...but nope...
it anit nothing serious...he'd order me a new gasket set that include the head gasket, int manifold, all the cam seals, throttle body gasket & valve cover gasket...he was a pretty cool guy...
