Hey after painting my friends brake calipers today we tried to leave his house and the car wouldn't shift out of park unless we used the shift lock release. When we push the brake down there's no ticking sound and the cd player doesn't work... don't know if that's related or not. Not sure if the Brake lights work since it's not my car but i heard that might have to do with the problem as well. I saw in another post that some guy had a similar problem and someone asked if his cd player was working could that be causing some sort of fuse problem? Anybody have some model specific help??

Wow i never heard of that happening...no clue!!

 

put the key in the "shift lock release" thing, wherever that is... look for it. should solve the problem

check for blown fuses and check the brake light switch.

 

I can't imagine why it would have blow the brake light fuse, but that's the first thing I would check second would be the brake light/shift interlock switch on the brake pedal itself make sure it's pluged in and the brake lights are working

It won't shift out of park until it gets a signal from the brake switch
