Default yellow/red top ultimas really worth it?

I've been reading all over about the deep cycling they have and the amazing start ups on the red top. They run about $230 + shipping right? I know people have used them with no problems what so ever, but the oem batteries are fairly good as well, even for running a small system such as mine.

can someone explain to me how they are better then, for example, an oem battery?

mine clunked out on me, but a oem replacement is just around $70, and you can just get around 3 of those for the price of one ultima.

thanks guys

Unless you have a huge stereo, don't worry about an Optima.

yea, I agree. Unless you have alot of electronics you dont need and optima. but, if you want a more reliable battery, thats a good one.

I bought a red top about a year ago and have been very
satisfied with it. left my dome light on for a couple hours
by mistake and it cranked right up worth the money
for not having to worry about it.

They're really good for weight reduction and battery relocation too. It just depends on what you want it for

Depending on where you are in the Bay Area, I know Monument Car Parts carries them, or I can sell you my used red top (4 months/1500 miles old) for a good price.

ohhh... Why is it they have specific part numbers/battery models to go along with certain cars?

I was reading on PO that someone was asking about our battery size and model and someone responded, "Model: D34.... Part # 8012-021".

What's that about?

My redtop weighed 32lbs on my digital bathroom scale. When I first bought it I put it on there because I was curious. The stock battery is HEAVY as hell. Red tops have more cca than yellow tops too except for one yellow top model I've seen. I got my red top at advance for $109! You can shave 10 lbs off the red top, just go on a diet! Not going to matter unless your totally obsessed with how much your honda prelude weighs. For guys that race it might bother ya, but for guys who have forged internals and fully built heads we don't care about 32 lbs of battery!

So can someone please clear up for me this issue on, any ultima battery model working for preludes, or any car for that matter. I don't understand why some people ask and are told about which specific model to get for 4th gens, but then some are now saying any model would work. Thanks

Ok, we've established that they weigh a lot.......

Now I'm also curious about this:
