I need help on installing my engine mount inserts.
I bought a energy suspension engine mount inserts, I have a 97 Hatchback with a B16 motor. I need a step by step guide on how to remove the rear engine mount and the left and right bottom engine mount. The top engine mounts is already been done but the bottom mounts seems harder to get to, so I need a step by step guide. Thnx a lot!
You will need a metric socket set (prefferably 1/2 inch drive), an engine hoist (or extra jack) a jack, and a buddy. An air gun would make your task 100 times easier.
Go ahead and take your wheels off and put your car up on jackstands. LEAVE THE JACK UNDER YOUR CAR ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR E-BRAKE IS PULLED!!!
The two lower mounts are easy to do. All you do is remove the two bolts that hold them to the "frame" of the car, slide them out, insert the inserts, and put them back on. On mine,(drivers side only) it was easier to slide the inner part of the insert on first and then slide the mount over the mount stud, mating it with the two insert halves. Be sure to pull the zip ties TIGHT and dont forget to clip off the excess.
As far as the rear mount goes, Its pretty self explanatory once you get down there. It is held to your car with 17mm and 19 mm bolts. Trust me on this, get ahold of an airgun and a LONG extension with a swivel adaptor. You can reach the rear most bolt (the one that actually holds the mount to the car) and loosen it up in just a few seconds. Otherwise its gonna take several minutes and a sore arm to get this one out.you should be able to get out 3 of the 4 bolts using the air gun. (one of them is on the passenger side of the mount arm) The other one you just have to put some elbow grease on. This whole job is much easier if you have an engine hoist, and/or an extra jack to take the tension off the mounts.(by lifting the whole motor a bit)
Once you get the mount off, its pretty simple. You just squeeze the two halves of the insert into each side of the mount and puth the arm back on. Be sure to leave all 4 bolts a bit loose until you get them all started.
This job really isnt that hard. I wouldnt try it without a buddy to help either. Only because it will cut your time down IMMENSELY!
If you run across any problems, let me know. I just done mine so its still fresh on my mind.

i would recommend you trash the zip ties it provides you with and do a little customizing. Drill 2 holes in the inserts all the way through, get skinny bolts with walshers and hook it all up. the plastic zip ties stretch over time and then the inserts bulge. The bolts wont stretch, been running mine for like a year now. The zip ties went out in a matter of months. This whole process is cheap and quick and will save you time in the future. But dont worry about it with the rear, that one shouldn't give you any trouble since its covered on each side.
