usdm bumper reinforcement bar and air bags
hey guys i just installed a jdm conversion and kept the usdm bumper reinforcment bar and was wondering if my airbags will still work in the event of a crash?
also if i buy a jdm srs airbag will the airbag in the jdm steering wheel funtion just like the one in my acura wheel?
i am asking because i thought there were sensors in the front of the car that deploy the airbag?
iv'e been searching for 20 minutes and can't find an answer to there questions thanks for all the help

the SRS unit has an impact sensor (accelerometer) that judges the force of impact and sends a signal to the trigger circuit if the force is large enough. the SRS unit is located underneath/behind your car stereo. There aren't any srs-related sensors in your bumper.
as long as the plugs are the same, the steering wheels should be interchangeable. just make sure you disconnect the battery for at least 3 minutes before tampering with your SRS system (per helms manual). you don't want it to deploy while you're swapping steering wheels.

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner! Changing the bumper support to JDM will not affect deployment. FOLLOW THE HELMS *EXACTLY* when working on the airbags!! If you deploy it accidentally it can very easily *kill* or *maim* you!!!!! This cannot be stressed enough.
Yes, the JDM wheel airbag will work exactly the same.
