DIY Porting: To Gasket match or not?
I am having headwork done this week that includes cleaning, a competition valvejob and a .025" mill. Other than that I am low on funds so I have been porting my own head! I am working on my B18b(PR4-Y) head to my all-motor LS. I cleaned an smoothed all the casting marks and smoothed out the uneven ridges in the bowl area. I plan on port matching everything, but before that I matched up the OEM gaskets to the head and the gasket is still a good lil bit bigger. I am wondering if it would be ok to match the port up to the gasket on the Intake and the exhaust side? Or should I leave it as is and match the IM to the ports on the head?
This is my first time porting a head, so I know it isnt perfect but I want to do a good job. Head porters please chime in.
If pics are needed I can provide those.

do you think the gasket manufacturer was concerned about port velocity when they cut those gaskets?? they are gaskets not stencils. your big flow gains are going to be near the bowl and at the seats.

Thanx. I have read this in my research however since I was port matching everything I thought it maybe important to make the gasket match up too.
