Engine trouble... Help me! Possibly fuel pump?
So my crx has been having trouble acclerating from a stop when i go below 1/3 of a tank of gas. This leads me to believe that the fuel pump was on the way out the door. I would depress the gas pedal and it would take 1-2 seconds for any acceleration to come out of the engine and when it did finally come it was a burst of power leading me to believe the current fuel pump is shabby. This has been happening for about a month or so.
Fast forward to today the engine had trouble starting today ( cranked fine with a delayed hesitant start) and when it started it had a rough idle. When I put it in gear and took off it felt like the car wanted to stall and was choking ( lack of fuel?). No backfire, no clunk, no ticking... just choking engine. Car still starts fine but has the same problem when i try to get on my way.... Any insight into this problem? The car has 68xxx k km on it, and its a 1988 CR-X Si Glasstop from teh japan..... newer plugs/ fresh air filter/ fresh oil.
Any help is greatly appriecated.

air filter??? do you have the stock air filter or a CAI? if its not that then the fuel pump sounds resonable just sounds like ur starvin ur engin of either fuel or air....it might also be dirty injectors
Could be something as simple as the fuel filter, or just grunge in the fuel tank. Have you tried siphoning out some gas and checking to see how it looks? Try siphoning some out into a clear glass jar so you can see if there's crud floating around in it (don't worry - you can dump it on the neighbors petunias! Just kidding. Really.)
If the pump is sending dirt and sludge to the filter, it will start clogging and cut off the steady flow of fuel. I'd start looking there first; it's cheap and relatively easy! If there's junk in the fuel tank, there should be a drain plug on it so you can drain all the bad gas and dirt out; I'd probably flush it out with some more gas after that just to be safe, if that's the culprit. And if there's gunk in the tank, there's most likely gunk in the filter, and possibly in the injectors as well. But start with the simple stuff first.
If you've got a voltage meter, you can probably test the pump without removing it, just by checking the voltage and resistance on the wires leading to the pump (should be under the rear storage compartment just behind the front seats).
