Default Manual Swap: Clutch fluid problem...not enough pressure to the slave cylinder to disengage the clut

So I tried bleeding the clutch line to get rid of all the air bubbles, using a clear bleeder hose and pumping the clutch pedal accordingly. The fluid gets pumped by the master cylinder but there is not enough pressure or fluid to the slave cylinder to push the fork. Could it be my slave cylinder? The master cylinder is brand new so I don't think it's that...and how often do used slave cylinders go bad? Is it likely? And I checked the slave cylinder on hondaautomotiveparts.com and noticed that they have this rubber cap over the bleeder hose, but I don't have that on mine...Could that be the issue? My pedal is about 1/2 an inch from the firewall...I even tried removing the push rod from the pedal to pump it myself however, no luck...I'm out of ideas at this point.

In need of desperate help Anybody local in the LA socal area? I will treat to dinner or beer if you can fix my problem...
It's gotten to a point where I was thinking about towing it to my mechanic, but I'd rather not...
Thanks for the help,
Kev

You said it was a brand new master cylinder? Did you bleed the MC before you hooked up the lines? The best way is to hook up lines from master cylinder to the reservoir and pump till theres no air. Otherwise, you will pump air becuase the mc isnt bled. You best bet is to try and use a vacuum bleeder from the slave cylinder and suck the air out that way.

it could be the slave if it was sitting for a while open or it can also be the line from the reservior is no tight enough and sucking air.

the cap has nothing to do with air being sucked in. It's a closed hydraulic system. the cap is just there to keep fluid from splashing out. If you think you have all the air out of it, start bleeding it normally until you dont get any air and see whats up. if its still no go, it could be a bad m/c or slave cylinder (however unlikely)

4th gen clutch slave cylinders fail pretty frequently, not quite as often as the MC though.

A rebuilt one is only like $20 from the local parts store, so it might be worth a try.

when i got my swap done it felt like i burnt the clutch after a couple of days so i took it back thinkin i had a bad clutch it turned out to be the clutch master cylinder rod he had to make more threads and reajust it then it was perfect and there was another guy here who had the same problem when he did the swap. hope that helps

ordered myself a new slave yesterday....and putting everything back (suspension, wheels, etc...) and taking it to my mechanic. Hopefully he can finish off my swap...from here on there's no more fabrication necessary. I'm pretty sure I did everything I could...should be considered a 5spd at this point...I just hope my car will run again

if it is a used slave cylinder and sat for a while it could be rusted and frozen. the one in my brother in laws car was like that after it ran for a year and then sat for a year.

Well, it was sitting there but i dont think it's rusted or frozen because...it still squirts fluid when i pump the piston...

it takes a while to bleed the line if it has a lot of air in it. it took me about 10-15 minutes of solid pumping and bleeding the other day. sounds like it could either be alot of air or a bad slave cylinder.

Buy a vacuum pump for 30 bucks from auto zone. I had the same issue on a customers 5th gen a few months ago. 5 minutes and 30 bucks later everything was good to go.

squirting fluid has nothing to do with the slave cylidner being frozen, it will swuirt jsut fine, but the psiton will not move its full range.

check to see if everything is correct...if i missed anything...if the tranny needs to be taken apart or anything like that...I just don't have the time and tools to redo everything...plus, he has more experience than me.
