Wont build boost. Stumped! help needed
Im helping a friend with his build up. We just got his motor back together last night, and all the turbo stuff on. It wont build a lb of boost. Here's the checklist of things we've checked.
No vacumm leaks
No chargepipe leaks
Wastegate isnt stuck open, cant feel any exhaust out of the dump tube
BOV is not open
turbo IS spinning. Its sucking in air when we rev, and blowing out air
There is no leak in the IC
No exhaust leaks...
We have noooo freakin clue. We can hear the turbo spool just by the whistling noise. Any suggestions?

That sounds hard to believe.
You sure there is a turbo on that car? I would build that $5 home depot boost leak tester. Do that and be sure that you have no leaks.

OHh damn i forgot to install that. Yeah there's a freakin turbo on it. We are in loss of words. No leaks.. NOTHING. Wont build a lb.
Anthony..Its got to be a leak man.. You check the couplers and make sure they had no little rips in them? Check the coulper that goes on the turbo.. Is there a boost contoller?
Check out this thread on how to build a pressure tester. What you do is remove your air filter from the compressor inlet. Depending on the inlet size get matching large section of rubber tubing from ACE hardware or any store with a plumbing section. It's the rubber tubing with hose clamps already on it. Now get a PVC pipe cap that you can slip into the rubber tube and clamp down on it. Now you need to ge something like a valve stem and install it into the PVC pipe cap. You put this rig on your compressor inlet and using a bike pump or something you hook it up to that valve stem on the PVC pipe cap and start pumping air in the system.

Mine did the same thing. The car would rev but only build MAYBE 1 lb of boost if we were lucky. We later realized that VTEC was not engaging. After the problem was fixed it built boost as normal. Are you throwing any codes?
okay... it was something stupid and small just like we thought. He has a 7 bolt flange, and what we DIDNT do, was put on the flange that covered the internal wastegate hole. Problem fixed.
