the preproduction model has the tsx k24, 200 hp and 6 speed tranny. also it has brembos, which arent supposed to make it to the released version.

As far as I know the model at Chicago Auto Show was just a chasiss.
I highly doubt it has the K24 in there, they said the production model will have 200HP, 6spd + LSD and the Brembos.

the production version is supposed to be shown at the SEMA show in nov.
as far as I know the concept has only been shown in chicago.
and for the release date, all they said was a little after the rest of the 06 civic line. so my guess is it will be available in late fall/early winter. maybe dec?
i personally can't wait to see the production version. i hope they change the wing and put 17s on instead of 18s.
also, i disagree that the production will be very different from the final version. honda is going to kill off the rsx relatively soon and the new civic si is a great low/mid 20's replacement for it. i do think its very likely they will drop the 18s for a smaller wheel and drop the brembo kit (hopefully they just do the first of those two). although i could see the brembo kit being a factory option.

Honda has said the concept is 90% of what the final model will be... whatever that means.

i personally think its horrible lookin, looks like they mixed together a tsx and a tc and they came up with that. the exhaust is in the middle of the rear bumper, and the wing is hideous, and i dont want 18's on my si either. i'm more fond of the newer mustang's than the civic si. and thats bad cause i hate ford

I agree with everything above. i like the civic, but something is telling me that whatever they replace the rsx with is going to be bad-***

my guess is they will be similar. look back at every si with the exception of the ep3. the eg and ek si's are pretty close to the rest of the civic line. also look at how badly the ep3 bombed.. so i think honda will try to do the opposite of whatever they did with the ep3.

Yes thats how any manufacturer makes their money(unless you are GM or Ford), by designing a model lineup with as many similar parts as possible. The 4dr will be more conservative in the details though.

If you haven't noticed almost all of the civic si's from the past with the exception of the 99-00 SI have bombed.... its not until the car is out of production that it picks up popularity.
Hell even the 99-00 SI took ALOT of criticism because it was not a hatchback like all the prior models had been. The only thing that kept that car selling was the B16 in it stock. I am pretty damn sure the Ep3 with gain ALOT of new found attention in the next 2-3 years. That engine is supposed to be very fond of being boosted and make pretty good numbers. When those cars are out of factory warranties expect to see some big changes.
