yeah that was the problem according to buddy club the spec 3's are fine with the stock valvetrain...guess not i didnt even go past 8k on them....but im upgrading everything now even the pistons..the head can be fixed right? i havent seen anything like that before
i had factory b16 valves/springs/retainers...i had buddy club spec 3 cams which were supossed to be ok with the stock valvetrain aslong as you dont over rev them...i was just shifting from 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd i forget...i wasnt even going fast...it happened at about 7 grand

that sounds like a double negative to me lol... i think you mean it doesnt require an upgraded valvetrain but they suggest it... i would NEVER install any high lift cam without atleast upgraded springs and retainers... the stock springs are just too weak to close the valve quick enough due to the high lift... so thus you float a valve and the above happens

What they said makes zero sense.
If an upgraded valvetrain isn't reccomended then why would they suggest it?
Or did they say that an upgraded valvetrain isn't required, but they reccomend it?
edit: peckerhead 2 posts up beat me to it

Shouldn't there be a comma between those two peckerheads? lol
Anyways, did they say that it was not reccomended, but they suggest it?

What happened is that you altered your engine's cam profile. The overlap was too much. the stock B16 is meant to have that much of an overlap, but with that cam, the intake didnt close fast enough, and the exhaust valve probably hit it, cause the valve went in more than was suppose to.

head can't be fixed, thats fucked... new head required... the block can be saved...

well if the say you don't need an upgraded valve train, then i would call them and see if you can get some type of refund. That is if that what was said.
good luck with the rebuild, you could maybe save the head but im not sure, block is fine though, just new pistons and a hone. good luck man
